Love-Light Never Dies
Love-Light Never Dies
I caught you
Out of the coroner of my eye,
Cold and lifeless
And sexy as hell.
Your toe tag says your name
And that linen sheet makes you fair game,
Dance with me my love
Dance until we fall down lame
On the cold cement floor,
Under the sterile lights.
Never fear, all is not lost,
Rage against the dying of the breast
And keep the beat until you cannot feel your legs;
While you are with me,
I live through you and you through me.
Off the gurney and across the floor,
Past the chimney and on for more,
I’ll rub you good and return to you your colour,
And you will hold me tight and be my white-draped lover.
Here in the basement where dreams are supposed to die
Is where my heart is unstopped by the love-light
In your once-sewn-shut eyes.

I am quite proud of this poem. It came to me in a flash, and I wrote it all in under 5 minutes. Very profound and deep imagery herein.
