A Guardian of Love
my heart lies here
in a treasure chest of love
nestled in the goodness
of a covenant from above.
soft and safe I am
though buffeted to and fro
I will hold on to what is right
and stand against the foe.
I will daily thank my Lord
for the life He's given me
I find my strength in gratitude,
I live best upon my knees.
I have a weapon to take care of
it guards the lives with which I'm entrust
daily and lovingly I polish it
I treat it well, so it will not rust -
I oil it with prayers of my spirit
and polish it with my lips
I wear the scabbard with humility
and wash it with my tears -
I will stand my guard with gentility
and not give in to fear.
my treasure chest of love
that my heart resides within
is guarded and cared for by me
for it's key is found
purely and unbound
in the covenant, that He witnessed, of love.
