Solace
Solace
Today I’ll take solace
In that you don’t hate me too much.
Thankful for the littlest things,
Makes me smile and the praises ring.
Today I’ll take solace,
Because prayer changes things,
And God has proven that again.
Faith grows from out of the strangest places,
So I can stand through all life’s phases.
Today, once again I take solace
In things that are small,
Like an email unexpected;
Like the slightest glimpse of forgiveness
That hides behind your words;
And the chance of the future
Not being so terrible as I imagined that it might be.
I still think that a life without you,
Is not so great of a life at all.
And I will take solace that maybe, just maybe,
I will be here to see you answer the Master’s call.
Your breath upon my lips, as I squeeze
Out a prayer for your soul,
Your smile in front of my eyes,
Even though I do not see anything at all.
Hope has returned to me,
And now I will wait to see what else shows its face,
Here in my thankful heart which once
I thought would always be an empty place.
I take solace that God loves you.
I take solace that He has not forgot.
I take solace that I am on the right path now.
I take solace in you,
And for me, that is a lot.
For now, it is enough to sustain me.
What more could I ask for?
Thank You, Lord, for this gift You have given…
